JUSTIN HUNT

Self-Taught Artist | Reverse Glass Painting

Justin Hunt is a self-taught artist based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area of Texas whose lifelong passion for painting began in early childhood.

Working initially on traditional canvas and wood surfaces, Hunt discovered his distinctive approach to reverse glass painting through an unexpected encounter with antique window sashes. Inspired by the possibility of repurposing discarded windows as frames, he began experimenting with painting directly onto glass, eventually developing the technique of painting on its reverse side.

What began as a practical solution evolved into a distinctive artistic practice.

His earliest reverse glass paintings featured silhouettes, gradually progressing into increasingly intricate figurative compositions inspired by vintage Hollywood, American music, and historical imagery. His work has since expanded to explore human expression, atmosphere, movement, and narrative.

A defining moment in Hunt's artistic career occurred at an Art & Jazz festival in McKinney, Texas, where a gallery owner purchased two of his paintings and subsequently invited him to present a solo exhibition.

Today, Hunt continues to explore the expressive possibilities of reverse glass painting, combining original imagery with the character and history of reclaimed architectural materials.
